Bottom line: You get a streamlined and faster sales process. Accessing Thinkorswim Web Use a supported browser and type in Thinkorswim.com to quickly access Thinkorswim Web using your same TDAmeritrade login credentials. A quick switch to Trader and Thinkerswim Web makes this a reality for traders looking for a web-based solution. You’ll get a taste of this from the standard screen, which is divided into three main sections: Account Summary, Watch List, and All Account Locations. When you select a ticker, an additional trading page will be displayed. Account Summary where you can view account information. If privacy is a concern, the eye icon lets you hide your account information from the screen. This section also provides a link to Thinkorswim’s virtual stock market simulator topaperMoney®. Playtime A good starting point is to bring up one of your watchlists and select any action icon. An additional window will display the security details and price table of your choice. And if you want to analyze a stock before clicking the buy or sell button, you can add chart studies like moving averages and RSI to the price chart. Next, expand any expiration dates listed in the option series to analyze the various strike prices. Below the options chain is the trading ticket window. There are several different ways to trade: Select an alert from the option chain Choose one of the standard options—option trade, closed action, vertical, iron condor or use the menu under Strategy. Software starting with +Option Trade includes trading and analysis. After choosing a strategy, you will see the risk profile next to the price chart (see Figure 2).

Thinkorswim Web uses dynamic spread recognition, so whether you create a strategy or choose the default, Thinkorswim Web recognizes and displays the risk profile next to the price chart. Here’s what’s interesting. When you place your cursor on any price bar on the chart, you can see the estimated profit and loss in the risk profile. It also works the other way around. If you place your cursor on the useful part of the risk profile, you can see where the underlying price should move. And if you roll a position, you can see your profit and loss profile after you roll the position. If you are comfortable with trading, select the “View” button, which will show you the trade price, resulting buying power and buying power impact for stocks and options. Order confirmation is dynamic, so if you change the number of contracts you want to trade, you’ll see how your buying power and costs change. When you are ready to trade, click Submit and wait for the trade to complete. If the trade executes, it will be added to the account status window. You can track open positions on any device because they are all synced. And Thinkorswim Web is not limited to stock and options trading.
